Nutty Chocolate Truffles

Nutty chocolate truffles have been reimagined with Medjool dates and cocoa powder. This offers a wholesome and luxurious treat that combines natural sweetness with rich, chocolaty goodness. These truffles are perfect for those seeking a healthier alternative to traditional confections without compromising on flavour or indulgence.
Traditionally, truffles are made with rich chocolate and cream, but this variation uses Medjool dates as a base. The natural sweetness and caramel-like flavour of Medjool dates provide a delightful foundation. This pairs perfectly with the deep, robust notes of cocoa powder. This combination creates a truffle that is both decadent and nutritious, offering the benefits of fibre, vitamins, and minerals.
Start by blending the pitted Medjool dates in a food processor until they form a sticky paste. Add the nuts, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and sea salt, then process again until the mixture is well combined and smooth. Alternatively, You can add all of the ingredients in one go. The nuts should be finely ground, and the mixture should hold together when pressed.
Using your hands, roll small portions of the mixture into balls. For a polished finish, roll each truffle in either additional cocoa powder or finely chopped nuts, coating them evenly. This final touch not only enhances the visual appeal but also adds an extra layer of flavour and texture.
Serving Suggestions
Nutty chocolate truffles made with Medjool dates are best enjoyed at room temperature, where their texture is soft and yielding. They make an excellent accompaniment to a cup of tea or coffee, providing a satisfying and nutritious snack. For a sophisticated presentation, place the truffles in mini paper cases and arrange them on a platter or in a decorative tin.
Nutty chocolate truffles with Medjool dates and cocoa powder are a delightful twist on a classic treat. Their rich, complex flavours and wholesome ingredients make them an ideal choice for those looking to indulge healthily. Whether shared with friends or savoured alone, these truffles are sure to bring a touch of elegance and satisfaction to any occasion.

Served these at a party and didn’t tell anyone. There was a dish of dates next to them which were barely touched while the truffles vanished rather quickly. When I told people what they were, they were astonished as they thought dates were nasty. Funnily enough, the date then started to go lol…..

So quick to make so I felt obliged to try them out and glad I did. They are so soft and delicate and loads of flavour. The dates make it.

Using dates is an inspirational idea and a healthier one.

The dates give a lovely thickness to the truffles and are, in my opinion, better than the chocolate ones.
