Add the oil to a deep pan/pot and place over a medium heat.
When the oil is hot, add the sliced onions and fry until soft. Should take about 4 – 5 minutes. When cooked, remove the onions using a slotted spoon and put to one side until needed later.
Add the pepper, 2 teaspoons of salt and the paprika into a mixing bowl and combine well.
Add the beef cubes to the mixing bowl and mix. Make sure the beef is fully covered in the dry ingredients mix.
Carefully place the beef cubes into the hot oil and brown on all sides.
When completed, add the cooked onions back to the pan and stir well.
Add the tomato paste(puree), garlic, water and the final teaspoon of salt to the pan and stir again.
Increase the heat to bring the pan to a boil and then reduce to low.
Place a good fitting lid to the pan and allow to simmer away for about 2 hours. Don’t forget to stir every now and then to cook everything the same.
