Spread the jelly evenly over the remaining two slices.
Press the peanut butter slices together with the jelly slices to form two sandwiches.
Lightly butter the outside of each sandwich on both sides.
1 tbsp butter
Heat a frying pan or grill pan over a medium heat. Alternatively, preheat a sandwich toaster.
Place the sandwiches into the pan or toaster.
Cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side when using a frying pan. Turn carefully with a spatula. Continue cooking until the bread becomes golden brown and crisp.
If using a sandwich toaster, cook according to the manufacturer's instructions until the bread is toasted and the filling is warm.
Remove the sandwiches from the heat and place them on a board.
Leave them to cool for 3 to 5 minutes. The filling becomes very hot and can burn if eaten immediately.
