Toss the scallops with the butter or olive oil and cook under a preheated broiler or in a skillet over high heat just until the scallops are firm and opaque, 1 to 3 minutes, depending on size.
1 lb scallops, 2 tbsp butter, salt
Combine the mayonnaise, lemon juice and cucumber in a bowl and stir to combine.
1/2 cup mayonnaise, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 1 medium cucumber
Serve the scallops with the hot sauce on the side.
