In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
1/2 cup unsalted butter, 3/4 cup granulated sugar
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
2 large eggs, 1 tsp vanilla extract
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
1/2 cup milk
Spoon the batter into the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.
Remove the cupcakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, top each one with a dollop of whipped cream.
Whipped cream
Arrange sliced strawberries on top of the whipped cream, pressing them gently into the cream.
Fresh strawberries
