Coriander Seeds are dried seeds of the Cariandrum sativum plant. This is the same plant the grows the herb cilantro/coriander. The seeds have a sweet, spicy fragrance with hints of pepper and orange peel. They are widely used throughout North Africa, the Middle East and India. Primarily as a flavouring for meat and vegetable dishes, stews, and sausages. In Europe and North America they are usually found in pickling spice mixtures and in cakes and cookies. The whole coriander seeds are easily crushed or ground and retain their flavour much longer than the pre-ground form available on the market.
