There’s nothing quite like the smell of a homemade burger sizzling away on the BBQ to get everyone’s mouths watering, is there? It’s one of those sounds of summer – the gentle sizzle, the chatter of friends in the garden, kids running about with ice lollies, and someone asking, “Are the burgers nearly ready?”
Now, I know you can grab burgers from the shops in no time, but honestly, making a homemade burger yourself is so easy – and they taste miles better. You know exactly what’s gone into them, you can season them to your liking, and they always feel that little bit more special when you’ve shaped them yourself.
My Easy Homemade Burger has become a bit of a family favourite whenever the sun’s shining and we’ve got the BBQ fired up. They’re simple, juicy, and perfect for stacking high with all the good stuff. And when I say good stuff, I’m talking proper sesame seed buns, slices of juicy tomato, crisp lamb’s lettuce, crunchy pickles, rings of red onion, and of course, that glorious melted cheese oozing over the top. The kind of burger you need two hands for – and probably a napkin or two as well!
I always say, the beauty of a homemade burger is keeping it simple. Good quality beef, seasoned just right, and cooked to your liking – whether you’re all about that charred, crispy edge or you like yours juicy and tender in the middle. Once you’ve got your patties sorted, it’s all about building the perfect stack.
I like to lightly toast the buns on the grill – just for a bit of extra crunch and to stop them going soggy. Then I layer everything up: a handful of fresh lamb’s lettuce at the bottom, a juicy slice of tomato, that lovely cooked burger patty straight from the grill, a melted slice of cheese, red onion for a bit of bite, and a crunchy sliced pickle for that tangy kick. Pop the top of the sesame seed bun on and you’ve got yourself the ultimate summer burger.
Perfect with a side of crispy fries, a handful of crisps, or even a simple salad if you’re keeping things light. I always have a jar of extra pickles on the table – they never last long in our house!
Whether you’re feeding the family, having friends over or just treating yourself to a proper burger night, these easy homemade burgers hit the spot every time. Quick to make, satisfying to eat, and guaranteed to get everyone smiling. That’s what summer’s all about, isn’t it?

Made these for my teenager and his mates – they all said they were better than shop-bought.
Loved them!
Even I managed to make these perfectly. If I can everyone can.
I used brie as the cheese and even a veggie friend of mine was licking her lips!!!
So simple yet full of flavour. I added a little chilli flakes for extra heat and they were perfect.
he little details like lamb’s lettuce and proper sesame buns really make these feel special.
Easy to prep and a real crowd-pleaser.
Toasted the buns too – game changer!
Loved the Worcestershire sauce in the patties – gave them a lovely depth of flavour.
We don’t BBQ much so I cooked them in a pan – still turned out amazing.
Juicy burgers, melted cheese, crunchy onion, and pickles… what more could you want?
We had these at our BBQ last weekend – everyone was asking for the recipe.
We doubled the recipe for a family get-together and they disappeared so fast!
Definitely making again.

Just tried this and damn was good. Far better than shop bought ones
Simple, tasty, and satisfying.
Honestly the best burgers I’ve made at home – juicy, simple, and taste better than takeaway.
Perfect weekend dinner – we had ours with crispy wedges and salad.
I liked that I could control the seasoning and keep them nice and juicy – way better than pre-packed burgers.
Loved how easy these were to throw together, and they held their shape perfectly on the grill.
