Kati’s donuts are a treat I make for my children and now my grandchildren. They are unfilled to avoid being too sweet. Dipped in sugar for the sweetness but a lovely moist donut with a cup of coffee is hard to beat. Served as snack or part of a picnic.

Ingredients
- 175 g all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 120 ml buttermilk
- 50 g granulated sugar
- 45 g melted butter
- 70 g granulated sugar
- vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Preheat oil in a deep saute pan or pot over medium heat.vegetable oil
- Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.175 g all-purpose flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt, 50 g granulated sugar
- In a separate bowl or measuring cup, whisk together buttermilk and melted butter.45 g melted butter, 120 ml buttermilk
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet and stir until just combined.
- Gently roll dough into 1/2 tbsp size balls.
- Carefully place dough balls into the preheated oil (frying about half of them at a time) and fry until golden brown on both sides.
- Use a spider to transfer to paper towels, then let drain and roll in sugar.70 g granulated sugar
