When you want something sweet but not too heavy, fruity but with a little texture, and easy enough to put together without fussing around—Strawberry and Oat Yoghurt is my go-to dessert. It’s one of those lovely little things that looks quite impressive in a glass, yet it’s made with a few wholesome ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.
The heart of this dessert is yoghurt. I always go for a nice, thick plain or Greek yoghurt because it’s creamy and slightly tangy, which works so well with the natural sweetness of fruit. It’s also a brilliant base—it holds everything together without being too rich, and it’s good for you too, packed with protein and probiotics.
Now let’s talk strawberries. There’s something so cheerful about them, isn’t there? I like to mulch them slightly with a fork—just enough to release those bright, juicy flavours without turning them into mush. Mixing those into the yoghurt gives it the prettiest pink colour and adds a fresh, fruity taste to every bite.
Then comes the oats. Just a sprinkle on top adds that little bit of crunch and makes the whole dessert feel a bit more substantial. Oats are such a gentle addition—they don’t overpower, but they bring texture and a nutty hint that pairs beautifully with the berries. Plus, they make you feel like you’re eating something just a touch more virtuous!
To finish things off, I like to top the glass with a few whole strawberries and a handful of blackberries. They make everything look fresh and inviting. Blackberries, with their deep colour and slightly tart bite, contrast nicely with the sweetness of the strawberries. Sometimes I swap in blueberries, raspberries, or even slices of kiwi—whatever’s in the fruit bowl or looking good at the shop that week. This dessert is very forgiving and happily takes on different flavours.
What I love most is that Strawberry and Oat Yoghurt doesn’t ask much of you. No baking, no gelatin, no fiddling about. It’s just stirring, layering, and serving. You can even prepare it a bit ahead of time—just hold off on the oats until the last minute so they stay nice and crisp.
This dish feels like a little nod to summer, no matter the season. Whether you serve it after a family dinner or enjoy it as a solo treat with a good book, it’s sure to bring a smile.

I layered it with mashed strawberries at the bottom and yoghurt on top—like a little parfait.
I made these for a brunch get-together and everyone was impressed. Looks far more fancy than the effort it takes.
My kids absolutely loved this. It looked so fancy in the glasses, and they thought it was pudding.
A great little dessert when you want something fresh.
Simple ingredients, big results.
Quick, simple, and delicious. I used vanilla yoghurt because that’s what I had and it worked perfectly.
A great way to use up berries before they turn.
I made this after dinner and it felt like a little treat without being too much.
Perfect as a breakfast.
Will definitely make this again with raspberries next time.
I liked that it only took 10 minutes to put together but next time I’ll toast the oats for extra crunch.
So fresh and not too heavy.
It was nice, but I’d prefer it sweeter. Next time I’ll add a bit of maple syrup or maybe use sweetened yoghurt.
Very refreshing and perfect for spring. I used honey Greek yoghurt and added a touch more oats on top.
Made this with frozen berries I had in the freezer and it still turned out great.
I made these with my daughter and she loved helping with the fruit. We used granola instead of plain oats and it added a lovely crunch.
Such a lovely and light dessert.
