Ingredients
For the Burgers:
- 500 g ground beef 80% lean, 20% fat
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil for cooking
For the Spiced Mayo:
- 4 tbsp mayonnaise
- ½ tsp paprika
- ¼ tsp chilli flakes
For the Burger Assembly:
- 4 large burger buns
- 4 leaves lettuce
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 rings pineapple more if wanted
- 4 tbsp ketchup
- 8 slices pickles
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties, making sure they are thick and slightly wider than the buns, as they will shrink during cooking.500 g ground beef, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp pepper, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Heat a pan or grill over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until they reach your desired doneness (internal temperature should be at least 70°C for well-done). During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty to melt.1 tbsp olive oil, 4 slices cheddar cheese
- While the patties are cooking, grill the pineapple rings in the same pan or on the grill for 1-2 minutes per side, until they are caramelised and slightly golden.4 rings pineapple
- In a small bowl, add the mayonnaise, paprika and chilli flakes and stir well to combine. Taste and adjust seasoning if required.4 tbsp mayonnaise, ½ tsp paprika, ¼ tsp chilli flakes
- Start by placing the bottom half of the burger bun on a plate and add the lettuce leaf. Spread 1 tablespoon of spiced mayo on top of the lettuce.4 large burger buns, 4 leaves lettuce
- Place the cooked beef patty with melted cheese on the mayo. Add the grilled pineapple ring on top of the patty and drizzle 1 tablespoon of ketchup over the pineapple.4 tbsp ketchup
- Finally top with 2 pickle slices and the top half of the bun.8 slices pickles
- Repeat for the remaining burgers and serve hot with chips or a side salad.
