Homemade Juicy Burgers

Homemade Juicy Burgers are so much better than anything shop brought. They are so full of flavour, are amazingly juice and have that feeling that only homemade can give. The combination of the Worcestershire Sauce, cayenne pepper and beef chuck works so well to creates the perfect flavour. Serve as a main dish for happy diners. I have a large appetite and two of these burgers has me ready for a snooze.

There are two parts of a decent burger that is often overlooked in my opinion. The first is the smoked bacon. To avoid Homemade Juicy Burgers being one half burger and the other salad, place the bacon in the salad part to bring it together. While the second in the bun/bap its served in. Why go for a burger bap every time when there are so many to choose from. Why not a sesame seed bap, onion rolls, pitta pockets, brioche or even a nutty bagel? My favourite is the brioche as it soaks up the juices creating an entirely new texture and flavour – Perfect.

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl add the ground beef, beaten egg, breadcrumbs, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, cayenne pepper, garlic and onion powder. Finally add a pinch of salt and a good pinch of pepper and thoroughly mix. I run my hands under cold water, shake off excess and getting mixing. Using your hands is easier than using a spatula/spoon.
2 lbs ground beef, 1 large egg, 2 cloves garlic, 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, ½ tsp cayenne pepper, ¾ cup breadcrumbs, 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp onion powder, salt, ground black pepper
  • When the mixing is completed, divide into 8 equal portions and form into burger patties.
  • Turn on the bbq/grill to a high heat.
  • Lightly oil the grill and place the burger patties on. Cook until browned and flip over. They normally take about 5 minutes per side.
  • Add the bacon rashers to the grill and cook to your liking remembering to turn frequently.
  • When the burger is nearly ready, add a slice of Monterey jack and allow to melt.
    8 slices Monterey jack
  • When you have flipped over the burgers, add the halved burger buns for about 30 seconds to turn golden brown and remove.
  • To construct the baps, add lettuce, bacon, tomato, gherkins and sauce of your choice. Add the burger and cheese and finish with the bun top.
  • Serve immediately hot and hope you enjoy.
