Homemade BBQ Chicken Wings are a thing of beauty. Cook them in the oven when its cold out and on the Barbecue when its hot. I add a little chilli sauce for that extra little kick to the chicken wings but this is optional. The sauce is rich and very tasty and can be used on beef, lamb and pork as well as chicken. Serve these wings as a side, main and as a starter for that all round option. The sauce can be made in advance and kept in the fridge and also used as a marinade. Perfect.

Ingredients
For the wings
- 18 large Chicken wings
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp cayenne
For the sauce
- 1 cup bbq sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
- ½ cup runny honey
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- 2 tbsp hot sauce I use chilli sauce for this
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter room temp
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375.
- Wipe the chicken wings to make sure they are clean.
- In a bowl, combine the ingredients in the “For the wings” section except for the wings and mix thoroughly.
- Once combined, add the chicken wings and cover them totally.
- Using a sided baking tray, wipe a little oil over the tray or use cooking spray. This helps to prevent the wings from sticking.
- Place in the oven on the middle shelf for a total of 35 – 40 minutes, flipping the wings once half way.
- Once the wings are in the oven, combine all of the ingredients for the sauce into a bowl and thoroughly stir.
- Pour the sauce into a pan over a low/medium-low heat and bring to a gentle simmer
- Once the wings are cooked, remove from the oven and liberally brush the sauce over each wing and return to the oven for a few more minutes.
- Serve immediately with the dipping sauce and with plenty of paper towel as they are STICKY.
