Apple Compote is a lovely chunky sauce that is easy to make and goes with so many things. You can make this in advance and will stay fresh in the fridge for about 2 week. However, I have got into the habit of making this in large batches and freezing. If you pour the mixture into freezer bags and lay them flat, they take up a lot less space in the freezer. Also compote is not the same as jam. Compote is not strained and retains the pulp and should only be semi-firm. Jam is normally strained and firmer than compote.
Apple Compote
Apple Compote is a sauce made of apples mixed with a wide choice of spices and flavourings. I have used lemon juice here but you can pick your own. Sugar or honey are also commonly added to sweeten the sauce.
