Ham and Penne in a Creamy Sauce is a one pot dish that is ready before you know it. I make this using leftover ham but have also used chicken and bacon with success. The ham is precooked and the ingredients don’t take long so this recipe is ideal for those in a rush. Serve as a main dish any day of the week.

When I'm home late after a long day and don't want to spend a lot of time cooking, this is the dish I always choose and am never disappointed.

Ingredients
- 3 cup ham diced
- 16 oz penne
- 4 cloves garlic peel/mince
- 12 large onion peel/slice
- 1 medium red chilli deseed/slice
- ½ tsp dried basil
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ¼ tsp ground pepper
- 3 cups chicken broth stock
- 2 cups full fat milk
- ¼ cup all purpose flour
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 bunch parsley chopped
- 1/2 cup parmesan grated
Instructions
- Place a large frying pan over a medium heat and add the oil.1 tbsp olive oil
- When hot, add the onions and the ham and fry until the onions become translucent.3 cup ham, 12 large onion
- Then add the garlic, parsley, oregano, basil, ground pepper and the sliced chilli and cook for 3 – 4 minutes.4 cloves garlic, 1 medium red chilli, ½ tsp dried basil, ½ tsp dried oregano, ¼ tsp ground pepper
- Add the broth, milk, flour and stir to thoroughly combine. Add the Penne pasta and turn up the heat until it starts to boil, reduce the heat immediately until it simmers cook for 12 minutes stirring often or until the pasta is cooked.3 cups chicken broth, 2 cups full fat milk, ¼ cup all purpose flour, 16 oz penne
- Sprinkle the grated parmesan and chopped parsley over the top and serve immediately.1/4 bunch parsley, 1/2 cup parmesan
