Sausage and Pepper Stir Fry is a versatile main dish combining Chinese and Italian ingredients. No surprise they work so well together. I slice the sausages in advance of cooking to absorb more of the superb sauce. The Hoisin Sauce, honey and Sesame Oil creates a lovely sauce. Also, use it with chicken and pork.
In the realm of quick and delicious meals, few hold as much promise as sausage and bell pepper stir fry. This delectable concoction brings together the savoury richness of sausages with the vibrant sweetness of bell peppers. These two create a symphony of flavours and textures that’s hard to resist.
Selecting the Ingredients for your sausage and pepper stir fry:
The foundation of any great stir-fry lies in its ingredients. When it comes to sausage, the options are nearly endless, from classic pork sausages to spicy Italian varieties and beyond. Choose a sausage that you enjoy, keeping in mind that different types will impart unique flavours to the dish. As for bell peppers, opt for a colourful assortment of red, yellow, and green peppers. Mixing them up adds visual appeal and a diverse range of flavours.
Before you dive into the cooking process, take a moment to prepare your ingredients. Slice the sausages into bite-sized pieces, ensuring that they cook evenly and retain their juiciness. Next, remove the seeds and membranes from the bell peppers and slice them into thin strips. Don’t forget to mince some garlic and slice an onion to add depth and aroma to the stir-fry.
Cooking the Stir-Fry:
Now that your ingredients are prepped and ready to go, it’s time to fire up the stove and get cooking. Start by heating a splash of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the sausages to the pan and cook them until they’re browned and slightly caramelized. This step not only adds flavour to the dish but also helps render some of the fat from the sausages. A simple process that creates a rich and luscious base for the stir-fry.
Once the sausages are cooked to perfection, it’s time to introduce the bell peppers and onions to the mix. Toss them into the skillet and stir-fry them until they’re tender yet still slightly crisp. Be sure to keep the heat high and the ingredients moving to achieve that signature stir-fry texture—crisp, vibrant, and bursting with flavour.
Seasoning and Serving:
As the aroma of sizzling sausages and caramelized peppers fills your kitchen, it’s time to add the final touches. Pour in a splash of soy for saltiness, drizzle of honey for sweetness and chili flakes for a little heat. Stir everything together until the flavours meld and the sauce coats every last morsel of sausage and pepper.
Once your sausage and bell pepper stir fry is bubbling away in the skillet, it’s time to plate up and dig in. Spoon into warmed bowls alongside fluffy rice or noodles for a complete and satisfying meal. Garnish with fresh herbs or a squeeze of lime juice for an extra burst of flavour and colour.
With its combination of savoury sausage, sweet peppers and seasonings, this recipe is a true weeknight hero. Quick, versatile and bursting with flavour, this dish is sure to become a staple in your culinary repertoire. This recipe provides you with a deliciously easy way to elevate your weeknight dinners. Slightly too salty for me, but that might have been my choice of sausages.

I thought the onion flavour overpowered the peppers a bit, but still enjoyable.

The hoisin and honey combination made the dish a bit too rich for me.
Loved how the sausages absorbed the sweet and savoury sauce—absolutely delicious.
Found it slightly greasy, but that was probably because of the sausages I used.
