Chocolate Churros is a superb dessert, snack and is both vegetarian and vegan. If you need a pick me up then serve with melted chocolate or jams and preserves. Churros are originally from Spain and Portugal but exported as far as the Philippines and Mexico.
Chocolate churros are a delightful twist on the traditional Spanish and Latin American treat, transforming the classic cinnamon-sugar-coated fried dough into a chocolate lover’s dream. Indeed, these delectable treats are perfect for satisfying sweet cravings.
A Fusion of Flavors
Churros have long been cherished for their crispy exterior and soft, doughy interior. Adding chocolate to this beloved treat enhances its appeal, creating a rich, indulgent dessert that combines the comforting taste of churros with the irresistible flavor of chocolate. The chocolate can be infused in the dough, creating a deep cocoa flavor throughout, or served as a luscious dipping sauce, allowing for a delightful contrast between the crispy churro and the smooth, melted chocolate.
Perfect Pairings
Chocolate churros can be enjoyed on their own, but pairing them with complementary sides elevates the experience. Here are some serving suggestions to make your chocolate churros even more delightful:
- Chocolate Dipping Sauce: Enhance the chocolate flavor with a warm, velvety chocolate sauce. Dark, milk, or white chocolate can be used, depending on your preference. Adding a touch of cream or a splash of liqueur like Kahlúa or Baileys makes the sauce even more indulgent.
- Fresh Berries: Strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries provide a fresh, tangy contrast to the rich chocolate, adding a burst of color and a touch of elegance to the presentation.
- Ice Cream: A scoop of vanilla or caramel ice cream pairs wonderfully with warm chocolate churros, creating a delightful contrast between hot and cold. The creamy texture of the ice cream complements the crispy churros, making for an irresistible combination.
- Whipped Cream: Light and fluffy whipped cream adds a touch of airy sweetness, balancing the richness of the chocolate. A dollop of whipped cream on the side or piped elegantly on top of the churros can enhance their visual appeal and flavor.
- Coffee or Hot Chocolate: Serve chocolate churros with a cup of rich coffee or a mug of hot chocolate. The bitter notes of coffee or the additional chocolatey goodness of hot chocolate make for a perfect accompaniment, especially on a chilly day.
A Versatile Dessert
Chocolate churros are a versatile dessert, perfect for various occasions, from casual family gatherings to festive celebrations. Their unique combination of textures and flavors makes them a standout treat. These always leave a lasting impression on anyone who indulges in them. It doesn’t matter how you serve them. Served simply with a dusting of powdered sugar or alongside an array of delicious accompaniments. Whichever you choose, chocolate churros are sure to delight and satisfy sweet tooths everywhere.

When chocolate appear on a recipe, I have to give it a try. These are both light and filling at the same time .
The churros were perfectly crispy and the chocolate flavor was just right. I served them with a variety of dipping sauces, including chocolate and dulce de leche, and they were a huge hit.
The dough was easy to work with, and frying them was quick and straightforward. The end result was deliciously crispy churros with a delightful chocolate flavor. I paired them with some vanilla ice cream, and it was the perfect dessert.
I set up a dipping station with chocolate sauce, caramel, and strawberry jam, and it was a hit with both kids and adults.
The recipe was easy to follow, and I appreciated that the churros turned out crispy and delicious. The only thing I would change is to make a double batch next time – they were so popular that they were gone in minutes.
These chocolate churros are a chocolate lover’s dream come true! The churros themselves were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
The only downside is that they need to be eaten fresh for the best texture, but that’s not really a problem since they disappear so quickly!
They were surprisingly easy to make and very tasty.
