The Tuna Steaks:
- 4 large tuna steaks 200g each
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- salt to taste
- pepper to taste
- 1 tsp lemon juice
The Sauce:
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 200 g mushrooms sliced
- 400 g tomatoes chopped
- 100 g black olives green olives, pitted and sliced
- tsp dried oregano
- salt to taste
- pepper to taste
- 1/3 bunch Fresh parsley chopped
Instructions
- Rub the tuna steaks with olive oil, then season with salt and pepper. Set aside to marinate while you prepare the sauce.4 large tuna steaks, 2 tbsp olive oil, salt, pepper
- Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Sauté the onion for 3–4 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for another minute.2 tbsp olive oil, 1 medium onion, 2 cloves garlic
- Stir in the mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes, until softened and slightly browned.200 g mushrooms
- Add the chopped tomatoes, olives, and oregano. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper to taste.400 g tomatoes, 100 g black olives, tsp dried oregano, salt, pepper
- Preheat a grill or griddle pan over medium-high heat. Cook the tuna steaks for 2–3 minutes per side for a medium-rare finish, or longer if you prefer them well done.
