Roughed Up Chocolate Chip Cookies are quite simply divine. The lovely cookie dough with the hit of the semi sweet chocolate pieces make this one of my favourite biscuits. Also, they are so easy to make and bake that even I can do it. The addition of the Walnuts adds a lovely additional texture that is unexpected but welcome. As with all cookies and biscuits, you can make these in advance and are ideal for snacks, lunch, picnics and lunch boxes. When it comes to cookies and biscuits, I judge them on the flavour and the dunk factor.

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. In a small bowl, combine the flour, bran, and baking soda. .
    2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour, 3/4 cup wheat bran, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar. Beat in the eggs
    1/3 cup butter, 1/4 cup sugar, 2 large eggs
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the large bowl, mixing well.
  • Stir in the nuts and chocolate. Drop teaspoonfuls of the mixture onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until lovely and golden.
