Whitefish is a communal way far calling sweet mild flavoured fish. These include Cod, Haddock, Pollock, Whiting and Hake. It gives cooks the option of having a choice of fish that will work in a dish instead of just one. That way if you fancy a change to cod, get pollock but don’t have to change the recipe.
