Indulging in the delectable charm of samosas is a cherished tradition across cultures. These delightful parcels are typically made with a crispy pastry, are traditionally filled with a mixture of vegetables or meat. The filling is perfectly infused with aromatic spices. However, those seeking a lighter alternative without compromising on taste, look no further than spicy vegetable samosas using tortilla wraps.
Crafting these samosas using tortilla wraps offers a modern twist on a classic recipe. They provide a lighter and more convenient option that doesn’t skimp on flavour and are far easier to use. With a polite nod to tradition and a touch of innovation, they are sure to impress even discerning tastebuds.
To begin, gently warm your halved tortilla wraps to make them more pliable, ensuring they are easy to work with. Then, prepare a tantalising filling bursting with vibrant vegetables such as potatoes, peas, carrots, and spinach. I cheat and use frozen vegetables, they are frozen fresh and taste amazing. It also means I can use what I need and pop the rest back into the freezer. Infuse this mixture with a generous blend of spices, including cumin, coriander, turmeric and chili powder. The result is a filling with an amazing flavour and aroma that is incredibly appealing.
Once the filling is prepared, spoon it generously onto each tortilla wrap, ensuring to leave ample space around the edges. Carefully fold the wraps into triangular parcels, sealing them with a dab of water to ensure they hold their shape.
Next, pop the samosas into the fridge to chill and fully seal. A trick really helps prevent them splitting open as soon as they heat up. Then, lightly brush each samosa with a touch of oil and bake in the oven until they turn golden brown and crisp, infusing your kitchen with the irresistible aroma of spices and baked goodness.
Serve your spicy vegetable samosas with a cooling yogurt dip or tangy chutney to balance the heat and add an extra layer of indulgence to your snacking experience. Whether enjoyed as a light lunch, a side dish, a satisfying snack or a crowd-pleasing appetiser, these tortilla-wrapped samosas are sure to delight and impress.
In conclusion, embracing the fusion of flavours and textures in spicy vegetable samosas using tortilla wraps offers a delightful departure from tradition while retaining all the charm and allure of this beloved snack. With their crisp exterior, flavourful filling and modern twist, these samosas are a testament to the endless possibilities of culinary innovation. So, why not elevate your snacking experience today and savour the deliciousness of these delightful treats? Contrary to popular belief vegetarian dishes can also taste amazing.
