Russian cuisine like the country itself is diverse.  It has Northern and Eastern European, Caucasian, Central Asian, Siberian, and East Asian influences.  Also, the recipes are based around often extreme weather conditions. These include a combination of fish, pork, poultry, caviar, mushrooms, berries, and honey. However, crops of rye, wheat, barley and millet provided the ingredients for a plethora of breads, pancakes, pies and cereals, beer and of course vodka.
