Chinese Style Spare Ribs

Chinese Style Spare Ribs is a simple recipe that works every time. The Hoisin, Soy and Honey make this a superbly simple recipe that produces a sticky finger licking treat. Also, this can be prepared in advance ready to be cooked. These are ideal as part of a BBQ, main course and also as a side dish.

Chinese Style Spare Ribs are a celebration of bold flavours and irresistible aromas. Coated in a sticky glaze that’s both sweet and savoury, they’re a favourite in many households and a staple at gatherings. With tender meat that falls effortlessly from the bone, these ribs are an indulgence that invites everyone to gather around the table, fingers at the ready.

The marinade is the heart of this dish. A delicate blend of soy sauce, hoisin, and honey creates a luxurious caramelised glaze. Ginger and garlic add warmth and complexity, while a splash of rice vinegar brings the perfect tang. It’s a harmonious balance that embodies the essence of Chinese cuisine, where contrasting flavours dance together in every bite.

Cooking these ribs is an art of patience and care. Slow roasting allows the marinade to seep into the meat, infusing it with layers of umami richness. The ribs become succulent, with the outer layer turning irresistibly sticky and glossy. For those seeking an extra charred note, a few minutes under the grill can work wonders, adding a caramelised crispness that enhances the experience.

Pairing is part of the joy. A side of steamed jasmine rice effortlessly soaks up the luscious sauce, while stir-fried greens like bok choy or Chinese broccoli provide a fresh, vibrant contrast. For a complete feast, consider adding spring rolls or dumplings, and perhaps a chilled cucumber salad dressed with sesame oil to balance the richness of the ribs.

As the ribs are laid on the table, their glossy sheen catches the light, and the fragrant aroma promises a feast to remember. There’s a rustic charm in the act of reaching for a rib, feeling the sticky glaze on your fingertips, and savouring the smoky, tender meat. Conversations flow freely, laughter rings out, and the empty rib bones pile high – a testament to a meal well enjoyed.

Chinese Style Spare Ribs are more than just a dish; they are an experience. They bring people together, encouraging shared moments and satisfied smiles. Whether for a family dinner or a celebratory gathering, these ribs never fail to steal the spotlight, leaving memories of indulgent delight that linger long after the last bite.

Chinese Style Spare Ribs

Chinese Style Spare Ribs are one of my favourite recipes. These are absolutely amazing and never last long. The recipe creates a lovely sticky sauce used to coat the spareribs but also can be used as a dip. Perfect.
