Sausage Stir Fry Recipe - TheRecipe.Website
This is the recipe I turn to when I’m craving a quick and flavourful meal packed with wholesome ingredients? Look no further than this mouth-watering sausage stir fry. Bursting with the vibrant colours and robust flavours of bell peppers, mushrooms, peas, carrots, and noodles, this dish is sure to satisfy your taste buds and leave you feeling nourished and satisfied.
To create this delicious sausage stir fry, you’ll need the following ingredients:
  1. Sausage: Choose your favourite variety of sausage, whether it’s spicy Italian sausage, sweet chicken sausage, or savoury pork sausage. Slice the sausage into bite-sized pieces for easy cooking and maximum flavour. I love Cumberland for their peppery taste.
  2. Bell Pepper: Add a pop of colour and sweetness to the stir fry with vibrant bell peppers. A mix of red, yellow and green peppers makes for a visually appealing presentation.
  3. Mushrooms: Earthy and savoury mushrooms lend depth of flavour and a satisfying texture to the dish. Choose your favourite variety, such as button mushrooms, cremini mushrooms, or shiitake mushrooms.
  4. Peas: Sweet and tender peas provide a burst of freshness and a vibrant green hue to the stir fry. Use fresh or frozen peas, depending on what’s available.
  5. Carrots: Sweet and crunchy carrots add sweetness and a hint of earthiness to the stir fry. Slice or julienne the carrots for quick and even cooking.
  6. Noodles: Choose your preferred type of noodles, whether it’s traditional wheat noodles, rice noodles, or even spiralized zucchini noodles for a low-carb option. Cook the noodles according to package instructions until al dente.
For the sauce:
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon corn-starch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (optional, for thickening)
To prepare the sauce, simply whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a small bowl. If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can add the corn-starch slurry and stir until the sauce is slightly thickened.
Now, let’s bring it all together. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of oil. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned and cooked through, then transfer to a plate and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the bell peppers, mushrooms, and carrots, and stir fry for 3-4 minutes until slightly softened. Add the peas and cooked sausage back to the skillet, along with the cooked noodles and the prepared sauce. Stir well to combine and coat everything in the flavourful sauce.
Continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly and everything is heated through.
Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired, and serve hot. Enjoy this vibrant and satisfying sausage stir fry as a delicious weeknight dinner or a quick and flavourful meal any day of the week.
