Pastry is a dough of flour, water and shortening that may be savoury or sweetened. Sweetened pastries are often described as bakers’ confectionery. There are several varieties including Shortcrust, Dessert, and All Butter Puff. Also it is used in starters, appetisers, main dishes, side dishes and desserts.

Shortcrust is used for the bases of tarts, pies and quiches and can be both savoury and sweet. Such as Ham and Leek Quiche and Lemon Meringue Pie. Butter Puff  is light, flaky, buttery pastry. Recipes include apple turnovers and Beef Wellington.  Dessert is used for desserts including pies and Lemon Meringue Pie. In the end, this pulls together the ingredients in so many meals. Imagine a tart without it? How about a quiche without it would be an omelette.
